W.A.S.P. Dallas Concert reviews
Porcupine Tree as Hot as San Antonio in August!
Porcupine Tree with W.A.S.P.
I did stay to catch a few of their numbers which were well played and very together; more so then their equipment which seemed to need constant adjustment by the roadies. The band never lost a beat between numbers and all exchanges of instruments were smooth and with very little transition time. The tunes from In Absentia, some of my favorites which haven鈥檛 been play for some time since their release in 2002, were Blackest Eyes and Sound of Muzak. The video screen back drop could have been better centered to show a full view of the matching music videos that augment many of their songs; the lights for the next band were in the way. Although I have seen W.A.S.P. a few times over the last few years and jumped at the chance to see them live in my home town. Front man Steven Wilson is a total professional musical genius and connects quickly with the audience- nuff said! Deadwing and Fear of a Blank Planet. They did open with Occam鈥檚 Razor/The Blind House from the new release and did play I Drive the Hearst & Drawing the Line along with a medley of sorts from Fear of a Blank Planet which included the first part of Anesthetize & Sleep Together. Their sound was fresh, clean and well mixed; all vocals and instruments coming out clear even though the combined bass and drums had the water in my eyes reverberating. I did expect to hear a number of those cuts but was most pleasantly surprised to hear some of their older songs from In Absentia. Porcupine Tree is touring off their most recent release, The Incident, which has received rave reviews. The opening band sucked (whatever their name was) and it was a great time to stay in the air-conditioned comfort of the bar area.
